Outdoor Winter Activities

Shake off those winter blues — it’s time to come out of hibernation for an action-packed weekend at Nemacolin. We have a selection of experiences for you to frolic in the snow, including dogsledding, skiing, ice skating, and more.

Dogsledding

For canine lovers, include dogsledding during your winter weekend trip. Take a ride throughout the property with our professional sled dog team. Glide over crisp winter snow, and then enjoy an additional 30-minute kennel tour to meet and interact with our adorable pups.

Dogsledding is offered during real-feel temperatures of 40*F or less to ensure the health and safety of our dogs. There is also a two-person maximum with a combined weight not to exceed 275 pounds. The minimum weight for a child rider on the sled is 45 pounds. For groups of three or four, an ATV follows behind to allow guests to swap out during the experience.

Dogsledding is available to overnight guests and members for $403 for up to two people and $806 for three or four guests.

You can still enjoy dogsledding without the snow. The experience is just as fun, as our sled dog team pulls a special wheeled sled called a Touri Cart.

As the sun sets over Nemacolin, après-ski adventures don’t end. Well-lit trails encourage you to continue your after-dark adventures and the chance to keep practicing your moves. Weather permitting, the ski season will open in December and run through March, giving you plenty of time to refine your skills. Snow Tubing

If you’re looking for a thrill, then snow tubing would be an excellent activity for you. A conveyor lift will transfer you to the top of the tubing slope where six lanes await. Take in the view before you whizz down 700 feet gathering speed as you go. Race your friends and family to the bottom — we guarantee you will reach the finish line bursting to do it all over again. This is the perfect outdoor winter activity to do with a group of friends or family.

We offer snow tubing to overnight guests, members, and winter season pass holders for $39 with taxes and gratuity included. The height minimum is 42″ for a solo rider and 33″-41″ for a child to tandem tube with a parent or guardian. Please note that ski boots are not permitted to be worn while snow tubing.

Outdoor Ice Skating

Whether you are a seasoned skater gracefully twirling around on the ice or a newbie testing out a new hobby, we encourage you to check out the outdoor ice skating rink. Learn the basics, or show off your new tricks for your family and friends. For $30 per person, we include rental skates and gratuity.

Indoor Winter Activities

Balance your perfect winter weekend getaway with indoor activities that encourage you to get excited about the cold weather. Indulge in a bourbon tasting at The Hardy Room or become a maestro chef in an Italian cooking class.

Bourbon Tasting

After a long morning out in the cold winter air, you deserve a rest. Check out the whiskey tasting at The Hardy Room, a great indoor activity to unwind and warm up your insides. Tantalize your tastebuds with a range of aromas, flavors, colors, viscosities, origins, and aftertastes carefully paired with bites to savor your experience.

Our hosts will also help you select the perfect cigar to complement your palate and the pleasures you’ll perceive during this tasting experience. Bourbon tasting is $100 per person for overnight guests and members, plus taxes and gratuity. Cigars are available for purchase during the tasting.

Italian Cooking Class

For those arriving on a Friday for their weekend trip, grab an apron and check this experience off your bucket list. You are cordially invited to attend an Italian-inspired cooking class with the chefs of Nemacolin. Classes are held on Wednesdays and Fridays, for approximately 90 minutes. We suspect you will be tempted to write your own cookbook after you learn how to make classic Italian cuisine.

Guests learn how to cook one pasta dish. We know what you’re thinking and the answer is yes. You will be given plenty of opportunities to taste and enjoy your food creations before retiring from the kitchen. This class is held in the Lautrec Bistro and open to overnight guests and members.

With so many activities to partake in this winter season, your biggest challenge will be deciding which ones to do first. Make sure you set aside some well-deserved “me-time” to indulge in our wellness packages at the Woodlands Spa and Salon. For a winter weekend getaway full of real-life magic and a much-needed respite from New York City, let us enchant you at Nemacolin resort.
