It’s that time of year again where the cool nights begin to meander into our waning daytime. Here at the resort, we’re beginning to experience heavy dew in the mornings with a fog that slowly rises with the sun over the golf courses. The orb weavers are starting to spin their delicate webs (they are stunning until you walk into one on a trail), garden plants are bearing next season’s seeds, and the colors are just starting to emerge in the canopy of trees. It’s the perfect sight take take in while on a brisk morning walk through the property’s paths.

All of this means: Adventure awaits at Nemacolin! We shared a top 10 list with you last fall, and since autumn is right around the corner, we’ve updated it for the upcoming season.

Autumn is a feast for the senses, and there’s nothing like the unique magic of fall at Nemacolin. We’ve got another top 10 list that will give you all the fall feels and make easy planning for your getaway.

Here are the Top 10 Fall Experiences at Nemacolin:

#10. Turn over a healthy new leaf at the Holistic Healing Center

Finish the year as a healthier you! Curated wellness packages, acupuncture, specialty massage, yoga, and enhancement suite options — such as salt-water float therapy, infrared light therapy, cryotherapy, and NovaTHOR PBM therapy — are samplings of the wellness care alternatives available through the Holistic Healing Center at Nemacolin.

#9. Check out the target paintball experience

Whether you want to check out your sniper skills or rack up points by nailing stationary objects, the surroundings for Target Paintball at The Peak are new and ready for your firepower. If getting down and dirty to take on the family — or your bachelor party group — is more to your liking, Outdoor Combat Paintball should be on your itinerary. Our team can help to facilitate the competition and the gameplay, too!

#8. Take an Italian Cooking Class

You are invited to grab an apron, and join the chefs of Nemacolin for an Italian-inspired cooking class. You’ll cook, laugh, and learn to make some of Italy’s favorite pastas before tasting and enjoying your food creations. Enjoy a glass of wine, roll your eyes back in foodie delight, and take home a recipe. Life is full of pasta-tively incredible pasta-bilities, and at Nemacolin, we’ll do our best to mac you smile!

#7. Create a Plein Air Oil Painting masterpiece

Pronounced like plain or plane,  plein air is a term for the open air. Let the marvels of the mountains become your inspiration. From beginners to professionals, artists of all ages are welcome to explore Plein Air Painting among the panoramic views of the Laurel Highlands in this outdoor class with nature’s pose. We’ll even be more than pleased to mail your painting home after it dries. Art and creativity are alive at Nemacolin!

#6. Experience fall fly fishing on the Youghiogheny River

Rod & Range Club offers some of the finest fly-fishing streams in the Eastern United States. From beginners to experienced anglers, we promise a thrilling fishing experience to remember. Enjoy our range of day trips with a trained fishing guide. Transportation and equipment are included for all trips, and lunch is offered on full-day trips. Though they usually are this time of year, we can’t promise the fish will be biting, but our team knows the best spots on the Yough, at Meadow Run, on Beaver Creek, and on some of the ssssshhhhh spots we won’t mention here.

#5. Saddle up with a Backwoods Trail Ride

Tour the scenic beauty of the Pennsylvania Laurel Highlands on horseback. Backwoods Trail Rides begin at the Equestrian Center, and your guide will lead you through two miles of wooded trails. A walk in the woods is always lovely, but it’s extra special when you’re riding horseback, and the crunch of the leaves is below your gentle mare’s hooves.

#4. Indulge in a second summer lunch on the patio

There’s nothing like an amber glow in the trees, on the horizon, and in your surroundings. Once known in yesteryear as an Indian summer, the glow of everything about autumn is referred to today as badger summer, quince summer, pastrami summer, or second summer. On the warm days of fall, lunch on the patio outside the Amber Bar at Falling Rock is simply divine.

Come late in the day on Fridays and Saturdays, and you may hear the bellows of the bagpiper who strolls the paths around the 18th hole of Mystic Rock. And if you’d like, we can even arrange a picnic lunch or a sunset supper with a hand-selected bottle of wine to drink and dine under a tree in the meadow near Shepherd’s Rock #9. We’ve held some magical events in this spot, and we can make your experience magical, too.

    #3. Golf

Play the best golf of your life at Nemacolin, and enjoy the renowned fall scenery while doing so. The Mystic Rock and Shepherd’s Rock courses at Nemacolin were designed by architect Pete Dye, who has been called “the father of modern golf course design.” No two rounds will ever be identical here — and that’s just part of what makes Nemacolin such a magical and popular golf getaway. Both Golf Digest and Golfweek have recognized the courses for their stunning beauty and challenging layout, offering championship-level elements of mountain golf in a spectacular setting among Pennsylvania’s Allegheny Mountains.

When the weather turns or when instruction is your desired focus, the Golf Academy at Nemacolin is the place to bring your game to a new level as one of the country’s most innovative golf training and practice facilities. You’ll find personalized instruction, bootcamps and curated schools, and some of the most advanced technology in the industry.

#2. Tune your bow and your aim with 3D Wilderness Archery

Fall ushers in archery season in the surrounding states, so let the Rod & Range Club bring out the hunter in you! Featuring realistic 3D targets of unique animals from our region and a few wild ones from across the globe, Wilderness Archery tests your skills in a natural environment across 15 stations. You’ll encounter a whitetail deer, elk, moose, javelina pig, alligator, and many more critters!

Receive instruction and gain comfort with a Gen-X compound bow. Experienced archers will enjoy the thrill and practice opportunity, and new archers will enjoy the fun and adventure of bringing out their inner competitor. Please note: No real deer, animals, or zombies will be harmed by the 90 minutes of fun on our course. Younger guests and members can also try their hand and steady their aim.

#1. Stay warm and steamy with the Pools at The Peak

The Peak delivers limitless, year-round fun for all. Lounge in poolside cabanas, enjoy live entertainment, indulge in delicious drinks and dining, revel in the vibrant atmosphere, and so much more. Crisp, foggy fall mornings and fabulous sunsets are yours to be had from the year-round, heated pool and hot tub.
