Place
We believe in the importance of a sense of place. Through local partnerships and philanthropy, we invest in our southwestern Pennsylvania community. Through environmental programs, we keep the Laurel Highlands beautiful for our human and animal neighbors. Through guest experiences, architecture, art, and more, we pay homage to the culture and history of these mountains.
Nemacolin has partnered with the Boy Scouts of America to create natural pest-mitigation resources for our golf courses, including owl boxes, raptor perches, bat condos, and more. This reduces pesticides on property and creates additional habitats for native species.
In March 2024, Nemacolin partnered with Youth Bee Works 501(c)(3) to place 20 beehives on property for onsite honey production. This program also provides beekeeping and bee education classes for guests, associates, and local schools in the area.
Nemacolin is a firework-free resort. In order to protect the wildlife on and around the property, the resort has ceased all fireworks displays and outdoor balloon releases. Elevated eco-friendly alternatives are available.
All used vegetable oil is collected and converted to biodiesel. A portion of this fuel is used to heat the resort’s greenhouses.
The Rod & Range Club has partnered with Uniontown High School to provide a location for sporting clays practice, as well as discounted instruction and team uniforms.
In late 2023, Nemacolin began a partnership with Winnow to minimize food waste. This system, which uses artificial intelligence, has the potential to reduce food waste by as much as 50%.
